antique dressers
Critical Mass asked:

We bought an antique dresser at a Thrift Shop. The most unusual features are that it has wheels made of wood, and also the drawers have no tracks, wheels, gliders, or anything. They are just boxes that slide into the dresser. The design on the front is nice, but simple. It seems to have been done with a compass. The top drawer appears to have been done in 4 different color stains. I know this isn’t much to go on, but any idea we can tell how old this is?

I have an antique dinig room table that has “double” legs. It has eight instead of four and it has a hand crank underneath to open and close it to add a leaf. How can I find out about it if I don’t know what it is called and I can’t find much online?

hello

We just purchased this desk, it is very big; about 6′ by 3′.
We bought it from a lady who bought it from an auction 20 years ago for many thousands dollars.

We can see that the desk have been used for many years as some of the edges, where peoples move around when using a desk, are discolored a bit (actually it add alot of charm and suggest a long history; which we appreciate).
It is obviously all hand crafted.

It is a very old talbe, and I tried to lightly scrub it, but it took off some of the finish. How can I fix it?
